Zeba SayedA well written Grievance procedure should provide a framework for resolving grievances in a fair and supportive manner, and comply with the basic principles of fairness set out in the Acas code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures. A failure to follow the code does not, in itself, make an employer liable to proceedings. However, where the code is relevant, a tribunal may increase or decrease an employee’s compensation by up to 25% if either side has unreasonably failed to comply with one or more of its requirements.
