Documentation acceptable as proof of right to work in the UK - acceptable single documents (prior to 29 February 2008)

Under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and the Immigration (Restrictions on Employment) Order 2004, to establish that an individual who commenced employment prior to 29 February 2008 had the right to work in the UK, an employer was required to check and copy or record one of the original documents in the list below. (Alternatively, the employer was able to check and copy or record two documents from specified combinations - see Documentation acceptable as proof of right to work in the UK - acceptable combinations of documents (prior to 29 February 2008).)
