Relevant date for the purposes of redundancy

An employee does not have the right to a statutory redundancy payment unless they have been employed for at least two years ending with the "relevant date". This is dependent on the way in which the contract was terminated. The relevant date is defined in the Employment Rights Act 1996, s.145 as:
