Annual leave survey 2013: employer practice

Author: Noelle Murphy

Our 2013 XpertHR annual leave survey provides a view of current annual leave policies at 208 organisations, covering 391 employee groups. We find that the median number of days given to full-time employees as paid annual leave is 25, showing no change from our 2011 research, and nine employers in 10 offer bank or public holidays as paid leave in addition to the basic holiday entitlement.

The Working Time Regulations 1998 oblige employers to grant workers a minimum period of paid holiday leave each year. Since April 2009, all employees must be granted no less than 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave (pro rata for those working part time).
