Employer approaches to workplace relationships: 2012 XpertHR survey

Employers are most likely to intervene in workplace relationships where employees display overt sexual behaviour or embark on a love affair, or if a manager has a relationship with a subordinate, according to XpertHR research.

Key points

  • While none of the 200 employers in the XpertHR workplace relationships survey put an outright ban on all types of relationships between colleagues, 26% discourage or disallow affairs in the workplace in any circumstance and a further 26% prohibit them in some circumstances.
