Advise an employee on the qualifying criteria for paternity leave and pay in relation to an adopted child

  • To be eligible to take either one or two consecutive weeks' paternity leave, the employee must meet specified criteria in relation to his or her length of service with the employer, relationship with the child's adopter and responsibility for the child.
  • Additional criteria apply in respect of entitlement to statutory paternity pay.
