An employer may wish to change the method it uses to pay employees, for example by changing from payment in cash to electronic payment or from weekly to monthly payment.
Changing the method of paying employees will be a variation of contract and the employer cannot therefore impose it unilaterally.
The employer should attempt to obtain the employees' agreement to the change. If this is not forthcoming, and the employer wishes to proceed with the change, it should follow the steps necessary to vary the employees' contracts.
