  • If, at the end of his or her probationary period, an employee's performance is satisfactory, the employer should write to the employee confirming his or her employment.
  • Among other things, the letter should set out whether or not the end of the probationary period has any effect on the employee's terms and conditions. For example, entitlement to certain benefits may be conditional on completion of the probationary period.
