Deal with the situation where a client has refused to have one of the organisation's employees back on its site

Key points

  • An employer faced with a client that refuses to have an employee back on its site should find out the reason for this, to see if the problem can be resolved. For example, it may be that the client disapproves of a particular working practice that the employee can modify or correct to the client's satisfaction.
  • If the client remains intransigent, the employer should consider whether or not it can remove the employee and find another post for them.
  • In some circumstances, it may be fair for the employer to dismiss the employee if there is no other position for them. However, the employer should still follow a fair dismissal procedure.
