The Working Time Regulations 1998 place restrictions on the hours that young workers (as defined in the Regulations) can work.
There are also restrictions placed on the employment of young persons in certain types of work and on the exposure of young persons to hazardous situations at work.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require employers to carry out a risk assessment in relation to all employees and to take into account a number of factors if they employ young workers, including their inexperience and immaturity.
