Manage an employee who wants to return to work early from maternity leave
Key points
If an employee intends to return to work before the end of their full maternity leave entitlement, they must give at least eight weeks' notice of their date of return.
The employer can prevent the employee from returning early if they have not given the required notice, but only if it complied with certain notice requirements itself before the employee went on maternity leave.
