Refuse a statutory request in relation to study or training
Key points
Having considered an employee's statutory request in relation to study or training and held a meeting with the employee to discuss it, the employer may decide to refuse the request on one of the permissible grounds set out in the legislation.
These include that the proposed study or training would not improve the employee's effectiveness or the performance of the employer's business.
The employer must notify the employee of their right of appeal.
