Take action on receipt of a call-out notice stating that an employee has been called out for a period of military service

Key points

  • The Ministry of Defence may mobilise reservists into a period of full-time service to operate alongside their regular counterparts for a particular operation.
  • The employer will generally receive at least 28 days' notice of the reservist's mobilisation, by way of an official call-out notice.
  • It must respond to the Adjudication Officer acknowledging the call-out notice within a short time frame.
  • The employer will be obliged to permit the employee to go on military service, unless it successfully applies for a deferral, revocation or exemption.
