Scenario

The employer is involved in the leisure industry and has been in existence for 10 years. It has a permanent workforce of 35 full-time employees who are contracted to work in excess of 75 hours per month. During June, July and August 2014 it also employed 100 students on short-term contracts to cover large corporate contracts during the summer. The students worked directly for the employer and were contracted to work in excess of 75 hours per month.

On 6 April 2015, the employer received an employee request to negotiate an information and consultation agreement.
