Mairéad Edwards is a senior associate at Tabacks and is based in its labour department in Johannesburg. During her articles Mairéad specialised in employment law and has since accumulated 10 years' experience in this area.
She advises mainly employers (both local and international) on a range of issues, including restructurings and retrenchments, dismissals, unfair labour practices, incapacity, employment contracts, restraints of trade and confidentiality agreements, policies and disciplinary procedures, due diligence reviews, and employment equity and discrimination.
Mairéad has been involved in training and seminars for various corporate clients, particularly in training regarding conducting disciplinary enquiries and arbitrations.
She holds a BA degree from the University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg) and LLB and LLM (cum laude) degrees from Rhodes University.
