Does your organisation enhance redundancy payments in one or more of the permitted ways?

  • Remove or increase the average weekly earnings cap
  • Multiply the appropriate amount due for each year of employment by a factor of more than one
  • Multiply the total redundancy pay by a factor of more than one

Note: There is specific provision in the age discrimination legislation for employers to make enhanced redundancy payments. Provided that the scheme mirrors the statutory scheme with regard to age bands and multipliers, and all payments are calculated in the same way, payments under the scheme will not be discriminatory. The employer may enhance statutory redundancy pay by: increasing or removing the cap on a week's pay; and/or multiplying the appropriate amount due for each year of employment by a factor of more than one; and/or multiplying the total redundancy pay by a factor of more than one.
