Call for evidence on EEA workers in the UK labour market

Close date: 27 October 2017

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) invites views on European Economic Area (EEA) workers in the UK labour market. The Government commissioned the MAC to report on the potential impact of Brexit on the UK labour market and how the UK's immigration system should be aligned with a modern industrial strategy, and the call for evidence will inform the MAC's response to the Government. The call for evidence seeks to establish:

  • current EEA migration trends;
  • the recruitment practices used to employ EEA workers compared to those used to employ UK and non-EEA workers, and the impact of these recruitment practices on UK workers; and
  • the economic, social and fiscal costs and benefits of EEA migration to the UK economy, including in relation to productivity, investment, innovation and the general competitiveness of UK industry.
