Consultation on proposed reform of employment law hearing structures

Close date: 31 January 2019

The Law Commission consults on proposals intended to rationalise how employment law disputes and non-employment discrimination claims are dealt with in the employment tribunals and county courts. Proposals include: lifting the restrictions on employment tribunals to deal with certain claims, such as breach of contract claims; and extending the time limit for bringing certain employment claims, such as unfair dismissal, to six months. It also seeks views on whether or not the county courts and employment tribunals should continue to have shared jurisdiction in certain claims.
