Consultation on technical changes to pensions auto-enrolment for new employers

The Government consults on draft regulations to improve the pensions auto-enrolment process for new employers. It is considering technical changes that aim to simplify the auto-enrolment framework for employers that become subject to automatic enrolment duties during 2017. The two proposed changes relate to: providing certainty about when the auto-enrolment duties apply to new employers by changing the date auto-enrolment duties are triggered to the day on which the first worker begins to be employed by the employer; and extending the option to new employers to postpone auto-enrolment into a workplace pension for new workers for up to three months.
