Improving worker involvement in health and safety

Close date: 8 September 2006

The Government consults on the legislative and voluntary measures that could be taken to improve worker involvement in health and safety management. Changes to the law might include the introduction of a new duty on employers to consult safety representatives on risk assessments and to respond to representations made by safety representatives. Employers could also be encouraged to adopt best practice through the introduction of a framework of voluntary standards, similar to the HSE's stress management standards.
