The national median voluntary resignation rate stood at 8.6% in 2009, according to 2010 benchmarking research on labour turnover from IRS for XpertHR.

The IRS/XpertHR benchmarking survey on labour turnover is based on responses from 256 employers with a combined workforce of more than 700,000 employees. In addition to detailed analysis of labour turnover rates, the survey provides extensive benchmarking data on the cost of labour turnover for the 2009 calendar year.
