Equality Act 2010 codes of practice laid before Parliament

The Equality and Human Rights Commission's codes of practice on employment and equal pay under the Equality Act 2010 have been laid before Parliament.

The main provisions of the Equality Act 2010 came into force on 1 October 2010 and the new codes are intended to explain in clear language the obligations for employers and the rights of individuals under the Act. They replace the various existing codes on different aspects of discrimination law that applied before the Equality Act 2010 came into force.

The codes were laid before Parliament on 12 October 2010. They remain in draft form until they have been laid before Parliament for 40 days without objection and the Government makes the Order bringing them into force.
