Future developments

Northern Ireland: The Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018, when commenced, will introduce an entitlement in England, Wales and Scotland for qualifying employees who are bereaved parents of a child under 18 (including a child stillborn after 24 weeks of pregnancy) to be absent from work with pay (see Family-friendly rights > Shared parental leave > Future developments and Family-friendly rights > Shared parental pay > Future developments). There are no corresponding provisions for Northern Ireland.
