Can assistance for redundant employees be provided in-house?

Some forms of assistance are more suited to being provided in-house, such as group support, introduction to contacts and information packs that are tailored to the needs of the individual. Other kinds of assistance, such as counselling, are better suited to outplacement as employees often prefer talking to an independent person. If an employer cannot afford appropriate, effective outplacement services, it could consider giving any allocated funds to the employees themselves.
