What rights do doctors in training have under the Working Time Regulations 1998?

Doctors in training have the same rights relating to a maximum working week, minimum paid annual leave, rest breaks, night work and health assessments for night workers as other workers under the provisions of the Working Time Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/1833).

The right to a maximum working week was phased in and, as of 1 August 2009, the general limit of a maximum of 48 hours a week applies to doctors in training (although the limit for certain categories of doctors in training was 52 hours until 31 July 2011).
