When did the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme close?

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme closed on 30 September 2021. (The scheme had been extended having originally been due to close on 31 October 2020 and then 30 April 2021.)

The scheme covered 80% of furloughed employees' wages (to a maximum of £2,500 per month) up to 30 June 2021. Employer contributions increased in July, August and September 2021. The employer was responsible for paying the employer national insurance contributions (NICs) and pension contributions.
