Which employees are included in the term "new or expectant mother"?

The term "new or expectant mother", in the context of employers' health and safety duties, refers to an employee who is pregnant, one who has given birth within the previous six months, or one who is breastfeeding. "Given birth" is defined in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (SI 1999/3242) as "delivered a living child or, after 24 weeks of pregnancy, a stillborn child".
