Czech Republic: Useful information - key future employment law developments

A brief summary of significant developments that will impact on employment law in the Czech Republic.

Development Key practical implications Status Expected date
Changes to the notification of sickness absence. Doctors will be required to submit sickness certificates directly by electronic communication to employers and the Social Security Administration. The law was published in the Collection of Laws on 1 July 2019. The Social Security Administration is expected to commence the online system on 1 January 2020.
Increase in annual leave entitlement. Paid annual leave for private-sector employees will increase from four weeks to five weeks each year. The law is under consideration by the Chamber of Deputies. If approved by the Senate, the new right will take effect on 1 January 2020.
