Employers that indulge potentially discriminatory office "banter" may end up liable, as this case demonstrates.

Mr Growcott worked in the post room at the Identity and Passport Service (IPS). He had previously spent approximately 25 years working for Ford, and had been a senior procurement analyst there for 11 years. Mr Growcott applied for an IPS internal post in procurement, the area in which he had considerable experience from his time at Ford.
