Elmi v Harrods Ltd [1997] IT/23329/93 (0 other reports)
In Elmi v Harrods Ltd a London South industrial tribunal (Chair: I S Lamb) awards compensation of £16,500 (plus £6,031 interest), including £15,000 for injury to feelings and aggravated damages, against Harrods for unlawful race discrimination. In awarding aggravated damages, it took account of the "lying and deceit" by Harrods personnel, the "dishonest testimony" and "humiliating counter-attack" against the applicant at the tribunal hearing and the company's failure to apologise.
