The EAT has upheld an employment tribunal's award of over £800,000 against the British Medical Association (BMA) for race discrimination. In British Medical Association v Chaudhary EAT 24 March 2004, the appeal tribunal rejected the BMA's challenge to both the substantive finding of indirect discrimination and the amount of damages awarded.
