Industrial tribunals had jurisdiction to hear complaints of unlawful race discrimination against Harrods by employees of concessionaires from whom Harrods withdrew approval to work in its store, and a different tribunal erred in law in concluding that Harrods' refusal of such approval to a prospective employee of another concessionaire did not constitute unlawful race discrimination, holds the EAT in Harrods Ltd v Remick and others.

In Harrods Ltd v Remick and others (17 May 1996) EOR71E, the EAT holds that staff employed by concessionaires at Harrods worked "for" Harrods so as to fall within s.7 of the Race Relations Act 1976, even though they also worked "for" their employer.
