It was not necessary for a woman to apply for an advertised post in order that she may claim unlawful race discrimination under s. 4(1)(a) of the Race Relations Act in respect of the arrangements made for the purpose of determining who should be offered employment, rules a Cardiff industrial tribunal (Chair: A Rees) in Hartup v Cardiff Women's Aid.
