Hawkes v London Borough of Southwark is the first manual handling injury claim to be decided in the Court of Appeal following the introduction of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHO). The case shows how the Court of Appeal has interpreted an employer's duty to reduce the risk of manual handling operations as far as reasonably practicable.
