In Scotford and Alexander v Smithkline Beecham, the EAT holds that s7 of the Interpretation Act 1978 applies to the Employment Tribunal Rules of Procedure. Summary reasons are therefore "sent" when they would be delivered in the ordinary course of post, unless the contrary is proved.
