The EAT has upheld an employment tribunal's decision to refer the question of whether or not disability discrimination laws cover discrimination against a person on the ground of their association with a disabled person to the European Court of Justice (ECJ). The employment tribunal decision in Coleman v Attridge Law and the questions to be referred to the ECJ were reported in In the courts. The EAT agreed that the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 is capable of being interpreted in accordance with the Employment Framework Directive to include discrimination by association.
