EAT slams City culture of pay secrecy
This report relates to 1 case(s)
Louise Barton has won her appeal against the employment tribunal's decision in her sex discrimination and equal pay case. The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) ruled: "No tribunal should be seen to condone a City bonus culture involving secrecy and/or lack of transparency because of the potentially large amounts involved, as a reason for avoiding equal pay obligations."
This overrides the original, controversial tribunal decision, that secrecy and lack of transparency about bonuses were a "vital component of City bonus culture".
