In Dentons Directories Ltd v Hobbs the EAT has ruled that a reason for dismissal can only be "connected with pregnancy" if the employer knows that the employee is pregnant when the decision to dismiss is taken.
Miss Hobbs was dismissed after 22 months' employment when she was absent from work for "depression".
