In assessing compensation, an industrial tribunal erred in taking into account that the employer was a government department, rules the EAT in Secretary of State for Defence v Jones.

Mrs Jones was awarded £2,000 compensation for injury to feelings in respect of her discriminatory dismissal on grounds of pregnancy (see DCLD18H).
