A female employee who resigned when her employer unjustifiably refused to move her from a full-time to a jobshare or other part-time working arrangement on return from maternity leave was unlawfully discriminated against on grounds of sex, rules a Birmingham employment tribunal (Chair: D Mellor) in Lowe v Peter Bainbridge Optometrist.
Ms Lowe, a qualified dispensing optician, was employed by Peter Bainbridge Optometrist from April 1992 until May 1999.
