The House of Lords has overturned the decision in one of the four cases that made up the landmark Court of Appeal Sutherland judgment on work-related stress.
The Court of Appeal's 2002 judgment overturned three awards of compensation for stress, including one of £101,000 to a secondary school teacher, Alan Barber (see Court of Appeal issues guidelines on stress claims).
