John Carr (Joinery Sales) Ltd v Ralph and Yule EAT/728/92 (0 other reports)

An employer's decision to dismiss two employees who had covered up incompetence by falsifying company documents was within the range of reasonable responses open to a reasonable employer, holds the EAT in John Carr (Joinery Sales) Ltd v Ralph and Yule. In finding that the employer had "overreacted", the industrial tribunal had wrongly imposed its own view of what the employer should have done in this case.

Mr Ralph was a senior manager employed by John Carr (Joinery Sales) Ltd.
