Baptiste v Westminster Press Ltd t/a Bradford & District Newspapers [1996] IT/35945/96 (0 other reports)
A manager's use of the phrase "black bastard" whilst interviewing a black job applicant was race discrimination, rules a Leeds industrial tribunal (Chair: J Prophet) in Baptiste v Westminster Press Ltd t/a Bradford & District Newspapers. The simple existence of an equal opportunities policy and a code of practice was not sufficient for the employer to avoid liability for the manager's act.
