Parsons v Avon County Council [1993] IT/36310/92 (0 other reports)

A clause in the sickness scheme for local authority manual workers which made a notional reduction in sick pay for state sickness benefit indirectly discriminated against women contrary to European Community law, rules a Bristol industrial tribunal (Chair: C F Sara) in Parsons v Avon County Council.

Mrs Parsons had two part-time posts, one as a school meals supervisory assistant for some 5½ hours per week and the other as a cleaner for about 12½ hours.
