An employment tribunal erred in failing to take account of losses incurred by an employee after she embarked on a full-time university course in calculating her compensation for future loss of earnings, holds the EAT in Khanum v IBC Vehicles Ltd 15.9.99 EAT/685/98. But for the dismissal she would not have embarked on a full-time degree, and on the particular facts of the case it was open to the tribunal to find that her decision to enter full-time education was taken as a direct result of the dismissal and so not too remote.
