In Coote v Granada Hospitality Ltd (No.2) a Stratford employment tribunal (Chair: J Cole) has upheld on its merits the victimisation complaint by a woman who claimed that she had not been given a reference by her former employer because she had brought a discrimination complaint against them.
Belinda Coote went to the European Court of Justice (EOR82A) to establish that the Equal Treatment Directive requires Member States to provide a remedy for ex-employees who are victimised by their former employer by not providing a reference to a prospective employer because they brought sex discrimination proceedings.
