Annual mandatory gender pay gap reporting introduced

Implementation date: 4 April 2018

Employers with 250 or more employees in the private and voluntary sectors must disclose their gender pay gap and gender bonus gap information for 2017 by no later than 4 April 2018.

Key details

Employers are required to publish:

  • the overall mean and median difference between male and female pay across their workforce;
  • how many men and women appear in each quartile of pay in their workforce;
  • the mean and median difference between male and female bonuses; and
  • the proportion of men and women who received bonuses.

Employers are obliged to report the figures on the organisation's website annually and ensure that they are available on the website for at least three years. Employers are also obliged to submit evidence of compliance annually to the Government.
