Christmas Day Trading Act 2004 comes into force
Implementation date: 9 December 2004
The
Act prohibits shops of more than 280 square metres from opening on Christmas
Day. The Sunday Trading Act 1994 already prohibited large stores from opening
only if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday. The Act and
Order bringing the
Act into force can be viewed on the OPSI website.
