Immigration changes come into force

Implementation date: 6 April 2022

The Immigration (Restrictions on Employment and Residential Accommodation) (Prescribed Requirements and Codes of Practice) and Licensing Act 2003 (Personal and Premises Licences) (Forms) etc Regulations 2022 (SI 2022/242) bring into force the revised "Code of practice on preventing illegal working: civil penalty scheme for employers" and the revised "Code of practice for employers: avoiding unlawful discrimination while preventing illegal working". The Regulations also enable employers to use the new digital checking tool (identity document validation technology) to confirm a person's right to work in the UK.

See Avoiding illegal working and Reconciling the need to check applicants' right to work in the UK against the duty not to discriminate in Immigration rules and right to work for more information.
