Occupational Pension Schemes (Employer Debt and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2010 come into force

Implementation date: 6 April 2010

The Regulations introduce two new procedures whereby an employer that ceases to participate in a multi-employer defined-benefit pension scheme may not be required to pay a sum of money into the scheme by way of employer debt. The circumstances are where one employer agrees to take on another employer's obligations towards the scheme, and where a small scale corporate restructuring occurs. The Regulations can be viewed on the OPSI website.
